At San Diego State University, you are considered a First-Generation college student if your parent/guardian(s) did not complete a four-year college degree.
Gates to Success First-Generation Student Organization
The Gates to Success First-Generation Student Organization is committed to helping undergraduate students achieve a meaningful college experience. Social
and academic events are held throughout the year to connect students with the first-gen
community on campus.
Gates to Success strives to build community among our first-generation college student
population and campus/community advocates in order to help students succeed at San Diego State University. They do this by partnering with our Student Success area and with faculty/staff
across campus.
First-Generation Graduate Community
The First-Generation Graduate Community is a student organization for graduate students
who identify as first-generation (first in their family to graduate with an advanced
degree). Additional information regarding the organization will be announced at a
later date.
